AFCI is pleased to announce the return of in-person events in 2022, commencing with AFCI Week, June 27 - 29, 2022
This multi-day, exclusive event open to AFCI Members, Affiliates and sponsors includes networking opportunities with entertainment industry decision makers, educational sessions featuring thought leaders developing technologies and solutions addressing modern production challenges and prime opportunities for lead generation.
This abbreviated version of the previously held 5-day event will include a reception, Professional Development Day, the ever-popular Physical Production Power Brunch, a new version of the expo we’re calling the Location Lounge and plenty of face-to-face time with industry execs. For those who wish to stay in Los Angeles for an additional day, we’re planning a fun excursion on Thursday, June 30. This fourth day is completely optional.
For more information on the daily schedule, please see below.

The first day of AFCI Week 2022 is focused on professional development. Members are invited to roll up their sleeves and engage with select industry experts who will share their knowledge.
Topics of discussion include the surge in content and the need for workforce development/training and infrastructure (studios and alternate studio space).
Industry Networking Reception
The Industry Network Reception will provide an opportunity for AFCI members to meet and mingle with select members of the industry in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Meet the Execs is an exclusive event open only to AFCI film commission members. During the day, a curated group of executives are invited to speak to members in a relaxed interview style environment, after which there is a Q&A. Executives discuss their career, the company’s projects, changes in the industry landscape, what resources they most value from a commission and also have the opportunity to share any up and coming project leads with the audience. Contact information is shared with the audience who then have the ability to connect with speakers after the event.
Presented in partnership with The Hollywood Reporter, this event places members and sponsors alongside senior physical production executives from Studios, mini-majors, OTT companies and major production companies across both film and television. A seated affair designed to enable meaningful engagement and the creation of new relationships, the event kicks off with an hour pre-brunch networking.
AFCI’s Location Lounge
A new twist on the expo format, this casual setting will allow film commissioners to meet with independent and commercial producers, line producers, game developers, location managers and other industry professionals to promote their locations, incentives, infrastructure and other resources. Replacing booths will be information stations: commissioners are encouraged to bring brochures and business cards only.
For those interested and able to stay an additional day, AFCI will be providing transportation to several production sites, commencing with a tour of Sony Studios in Culver City. This day will be a great way to explore some Los Angeles landmarks with fellow members. Bring some money for lunch and souvenirs!
The Sofitel Hotel has provided a special rate and room block for AFCI Members. To obtain this rate and secure your registration, please contact Marj Galas at marj.galas@afci.org for instructions.
In the event there are closures mandated by the Los Angeles County Health Department that prevent AFCI Week from occurring, members will receive a refund or credit of their purchase. Additionally, in the case of a Los Angeles County Health Department mandated closure, the Sofitel Hotel will reimburse any member with a room booked directly with them in AFCI's room block.
*AFCI is not responsible for participant's airfare or hotel bookings. AFCI recommends participants book flights and hotel rooms directly through the vendors as vendors, over third-party discount sites, are more apt to provide refunds/reimbursements if a cancelation should occur.
