AFCI welcomes story submissions from our members to help highlight exciting developments in the global film industry. Our goal is to showcase news that is relevant to the broader AFCI community, fostering knowledge-sharing, industry collaboration, and professional growth.

What Makes a Good Story?

Major Industry Announcements

AFCI Members value updates that impact the film industry on a broad scale. Relevant stories include:

  • Incentive Updates. Changes in tax credits, grants, or rebate programs.
  • Leadership Changes. Appointments of key executives or major hires within a film commission.
  • Production Wins. Large-scale productions selecting your region as a filming location.
  • Strategic Success Stories. Initiatives that improve filming conditions, sustainability efforts, or unique industry collaborations.

Case Studies and Tools

Members benefit from shared knowledge and best practices. If your region has implemented a strategy or developed a tool that could help other members, we encourage you to submit:

  • Successful Filming Programs. Stories about how your region attracted major productions.
  • Best Practices. Unique solutions to common challenges in film permitting, sustainability, workforce development, or economic impact studies.
  • Innovative Tools & Resources. New digital platforms, infrastructure improvements, or policy changes that enhance production opportunities.

Festivals & Large-Scale Events

AFCI highlights significant festivals and industry events that could attract multiple AFCI members. To qualify, events should:

  • Have international or national relevance, with a strong film industry presence.
  • Offer networking, educational, or business opportunities for film commissioners and industry professionals.
  • Be open to AFCI members or provide industry-level programming.

Milestones & Member Achievements

If an AFCI member organization celebrates a major anniversary, award, or groundbreaking moment, we want to hear about it. This includes:

  • Recognition at key industry awards.
  • Reaching a major milestone (e.g., 30 years as a film commission).
  • Receiving industry grants or securing major funding for film initiatives.

What Won’t Be Considered?

Narrow-Interest Stories

Submissions should appeal to a wide range of AFCI members. If a story only impacts a single region or a small group of industry professionals, it may not be a good fit for AFCI’s channels.

Overly Promotional or Sales-Driven Content

Stories must have industry value beyond self-promotion. Submissions that are solely designed to market a service, promote a tourism campaign, or sell a commercial product will not be accepted. However, if you’re launching a new industry initiative that benefits film commissions or other membership levels globally, we encourage you to frame it in that context.

Junior Job
Listings

We do not publish internships, entry-level or mid-level job listings. If your organization has a senior-level or executive role that might be of interest to AFCI members, please reach out, and we will evaluate whether it fits our content strategy.

Previously Covered Stories

If a similar story has already been published recently, we may not feature it again unless there is a significant update.
