Professional Knowledge, Skill sets, and Strategic planning Experience

I feel that my experience as a Certified Public Accountant gives me a unique perspective on the issues that film commissions deal with when working on tax incentives for qualified productions. In addition, as a strategic financial analyst for large corporations, I look at projects with an awareness as to our return on investment and look for areas in which not only the productions themselves benefit, but more importantly how we benefit while representing the interests of our states, countries, and territories.

Which areas of AFCI activities and programs do you think are of the most strategic importance to you and why?

Strategically, I believe the strength of the AFCI relies on the cooperation of it’s members. We have unique jobs with unique challenges and opportunities. We benefit most by working together to share knowledge, provide each other with information, and be a resource to the industry. When we compete, we lose, when we cooperate, we win. Working together as trusted industry experts we take control of the information rather than let others control it for us. We must not underestimate our value, and make productions aware of the importance of providing us with a return on investment that as investors, we deserve like any other investor in a production.

What is most appealing to you about serving on the board of directors?

I look forwarding to the sharing of ideas, best practices and information. Working with other passionate and experienced professionals I believe we can change the paradigm that currently exists. We do not exists to provide corporate handouts. We exist to be experts in our industries, specialized in our regions, and come to the table with investment funds to complete projects. For productions who are savvy enough to take advantage of our resources, we will work to attain a mutually beneficial result where all the investors, including us, are rewarded at the completion of a project.
